ALK Positive Belgium
What?
A patient association for people in Belgium living with ALK+ lung cancer and their loved ones. ALK+ is a rare form of lung cancer caused by a genetic anomaly. The organization is part of the global ALK+ network, which has more than 2,500 members in 50 countries.
Goal?
ALK Positive Belgium aims to bring together patients with ALK+, represent their interests and improve their quality of life.
How do we want to achieve these goals?
We offer online support to patients and their loved ones in a private Facebook group where people can get help in finding medical specialists and hospitals with expertise in ALK+.
We organize both virtual and real-life meetings and events for our members.
We want to raise public awareness, as ALK+ lung cancer is still not very well-known, and we monitor developments in treatments in Belgium, Europe and the rest of the world.
We advocate with policymakers to improve access to therapies and medicines.
We advocate with the pharmaceutical industry to make the treatment of ALK+ lung cancer a priority.
And we want to raise awareness among doctors – both general practitioners and specialists – so that they keep ALK+ in mind as a possible diagnosis.
